Discovery Summer : Queen's Gate : New for 2013

This new programme is run at Baden Powell House,
located on the corner of Queen's Gate
and Cromwell Road, South Kensington

Levels: elementary to upper intermediate (CEF A1 - B2)

The programme runs from 09:00h-17:00h Monday to Friday. Courses start each Monday and you can study for 1-4 weeks.

The centre is conveniently located just five minutes' walk from Gloucester Road and South Kensington Underground stations and across the road from the Natural History, Science and Victoria & Albert Museums. The air-conditioned, modern building has spacious classrooms and outdoor recreational space for break-times and afternoon activities.

You'll have 15 hours of English classes in the mornings and different activities, led in English, in the afternoons. English classes may be mixed ability within the group.

Teaching & Activity Programme

• Full day courses. 09:00h-17:00h. £575/week
• Maximum 14 students per class
• Each week your teacher chooses a project (e.g. designing your own dinosaur, preparing a travel guide to the moon, debating global issues), tailored to the age, level and English ability of the class. All skills are covered (listening, speaking, reading and writing). English classes may be mixed ability within the group
• Part of the learning experience is a weekly study visit with your teacher to one of the local London museums (Natural History, Science or Victoria & Albert). You'll see an exhibit related to your project
• Projects are presented in front of other students at the end of the week. This is a fun way to end the week and will make you feel very proud!
• Homework is set every night so you can share your learning with your family
• At the end of your course you are presented with an end of course report, a Discovery Summer certificate and a photo of your class
• A packed lunch is included in the fees
• Afternoon activities, led in English, include arts & crafts, music & song, drama, games, trips to the park, outdoor learning opportunities - as appropriate to the age group.
